Candida Albicans Cure, Issue #014 -- Candida Diet - Foods to Avoid
March 09, 2007

Hello,

In the last email, I discussed Starting the Candida diet. In doing so you remove two of the main foods for Candida - sugars and grains. In this issue I will list other foods that you need to avoid.

Do not eat mushrooms or other fungi. Mushrooms have many medicinal qualities and can be very beneficial for a healthy individual. However 50 percent of people with a Candida overgrowth react to mushrooms so it is best to avoid them.

Avoid nuts that grow in the ground. This included peanuts, pistachios, peanut butter and any product cooked in peanut oil. They are typically loaded with mold and fungi and their mycotoxins (fungal poisons). These mycotoxins tax your body's defenses so that there are fewer available to fight the Candida. Also avoid any products cooked in peanut oil.

The heat of cooking can kill the fungi but it does not remove the mycotoxins. As always you MUST read the product labels to see if the product was cooked in peanut oil or if it is one of the ingredients.

Avoid any products made using yeast. This includes vinegar, alcohol and any baked product like bread. You already know that you must avoid bread because of the grains it contains. There are brands of alcohol made without using yeast but they are high in fast-acting carbohydrates that the Candida loves so much so all alcohol should be avoided.

Try to avoid processed foods including most foods purchased in a bag, box or can. These foods are loaded with harmful food additives and preservatives. The processing also damages or removes many of the vital nutrients that your body needs to fight your Candida albicans overgrowth.

Be safe - eat only fresh, whole foods like the kind you find around the outside edges of your food store.

Avoid any food with the word hydrogenated in the ingredients. Any oil that has been hydrogenated is a trans-fat. Trans-fats have been linked to heart disease and should be avoided at all costs.

There is a loophole in the labeling laws that allow a manufacturer to list a product as trans-fat free even if it contains some hydrogenated ingredients. Read the label to know for sure if it is actually trans-fat free.

Fully hydrogenated oils are being substituted for partially hydrogenated oils in an effort to sound healthier. However they have been shown to be unhealthy as well so it is best to avoid any product with hydrogenated in the ingredients.

Avoid artificial sweeteners. Nearly all man-made sweeteners have serious side effects and should be avoided. In his book titled Sweet Deception, Dr. Joseph Mercola---supported by extensive studies and research---exposes the fact that Splenda actually contributes to a host of serious diseases. The same is true for many of the other artificial sweeteners being marketed today.

Avoid vegetable oils or anything cooked in vegetable oils. The two main vegetable oils are corn and soybean oils. They should be avoided because they are from grains. Other vegetable oils are largely omega-6 vegetable oils. The Standard American Diet is overloaded in omega-6 fatty acids.

Experts suggest that you should have a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids of 1:1. However most Americans eat a dietary ratio that falls between 20:1 and 50:1. Avoiding vegetable oils will help balance out this ratio and strengthen your body's immune system.

These foods along with sugar and grains are the ones you need to avoid while you are on the Candida diet. They are the main sources of food for the Candida and also weaken your body's defenses. Stay tuned for the next issue where I will detail the foods that you SHOULD eat in order to Conquer your Candida overgrowth!

Here's to your health.

P.S. I still have not returned to eating many of the foods that are not allowed on the Candida diet. The research I have done shows that these foods can contribute not only to Candida albicans overgrowth but also to many of the chronic disease that plague our society. If you want to lead a long, vibrant life - avoid these foods even after you have cured yourself.
